Can Global War Effect Climate Change

The answer is, sure it can! during the two world wars plenty of things like industrialization and pollution affected the world. For example in the 1920s we burned 10 gigajoules of biofuel and 18 gigajoules of coal per capita. That was during World War One. Then in the 1940s we burned 30 gigajoules of coal and 20 gigajoules of biofuel per capita. That was during World War Two and I can think of a couple reasons why it would be so much higher.

For example before the 1920s we were still a new nation, and thanks to the industrial revolution we were starting to pick up speed. New inventions were being rolled out left and right and what was used to power them, coal. We started burning coal to fuel our trains and machinery. This flooded the atmosphere with a significant amount of Co2 into the atmosphere which is not good. So now that we had a way to power machinery we could make more things, and new things that required more fuel. The creation of factories came in and started polluting the air even more. So during WW1, we needed to manufacture weapons to help our soldiers fight on the front line, so that produced even more carbon emissions. Another cause of global warming is during WW2 when the United States bombed the Japanese city of Tokyo. It is a tragic part in our history and its lasting effects are even more tragic. When we flew our planes over Tokyo it was a mess because most of the city is made of wood. So, when one building caught fire, the whole city did too. All the people couldn't run anywhere else so the ran into the ocean where they thought they would be safe, but they weren't. They ended up drowning. Not only could they not escape their deaths but this is one of the worst examples of how wars can effect the enviroment. When all the wood burns it releases carbon into the air which is bad for our health and the health of the planet. Although we are trying to fix our mistakes, it is hard to undo such BIG mistakes.
